Medical Doctor & Pharmacist
Immigrated to the United States over 40 years ago, with only $100 in my pocket and a dream. English was my second language. I started my journey in Washington DC , working as a janitor and selling ice cream. I volunteered at the U.S. Veterans Medical Center. I studied Pharmacy and passed the board exam as a licensed Pharmacist. I always wanted to become a doctor to help people. While in my residency in Hawaii I fell in love with Hawaii, its culture, the diversity of its people, and the Aloha Spirit. I knew then that Hawaii will be my home.
My focus is on Healing the State and its people. We need to improve access to quality, affordable healthcare to all people specially to the the elderly, the disabled, the poor, as well as vulnerable communities, such as the homeless. I would like to introduce taxpayer saving measures such as using the VA’s healthcare and drug cost program as a blueprint for Hawaii to follow. This policy would save our state millions of dollars and lower the costs of both healthcare and drug costs.
Ecomomy
We must support local businesses and workforce by Increasing the minimum wage to a fair rate, however, exempting the “Mom and Pop”businesses from minimum wage. I plan to introduce policy to ensure Unemployment Insurance Benefits must be timely with strong penalties to the State for failure to comply with such policy. Focus on establishing an inclusive workforce. For the workforce we must continue to support Tourism smartly (focus on eco-tourism and protecting our natural beauty and infrastructure). Continue to support our Military, except we must decommission the Red Hill Underground Fuel Tanks which have tainted our ground water with recent fuel leaks. We must diversify our economy and bring high technology business and jobs to Hawaii, as well as adding more renewable business in Hawaii. In addition, we need to refocus our support for Agriculture and allow the government support of dairy farms, cattle production, and expand agriculture production of produce.
