Medical Doctor & Pharmacist

Immigrated to the United States over 40 years ago, with only $100 in my pocket and a dream. English was my second language. I started my journey in Washington DC , working as a janitor and selling ice cream. I volunteered at the U.S. Veterans Medical Center. I studied Pharmacy and passed the board exam as a licensed Pharmacist. I always wanted to become a doctor to help people. While in my residency in Hawaii I fell in love with Hawaii, its culture, the diversity of its people, and the Aloha Spirit. I knew then that Hawaii will be my home.

My focus is on Healing the State and its people. We need to improve access to quality, affordable healthcare to all people specially to the the elderly, the disabled, the poor, as well as vulnerable communities, such as the homeless. I would like to introduce taxpayer saving measures such as using the VA’s healthcare and drug cost program as a blueprint for Hawaii to follow. This policy would save our state millions of dollars and lower the costs of both healthcare and drug costs.

Education

Our children are our most precious, they represent our future. We need to secure higher qualified teachers with better pay and benefits, such as an affordable rental housing program for teachers in Hawaii. Reduced housing costs will attract more teachers and their retention. I plan to work on policy to reduce class sizes and work to bring back the successful A Plus After School Program, which will be of great benefit to both students and working parents.
